Hot in the east, storms for northern and central Australia

Fire weather warnings issued for much of Victoria and part of Tasmania, ACT, and NSW.

00:00Hello, Miriam at the Bureau with your national weather forecast for tomorrow,

00:03Saturday the 23rd of November, with a snapshot look ahead at Sunday's weather as well.

00:09Now tomorrow's weather map first of all shows areas of cloud,

00:12showers and storms extending from northwestern parts of the country

00:16through central Australia and down into the southeast.

00:19Now some areas may see moderate to locally heavy falls with this system moving through,

00:24but it will also help to flush out some of that heat

00:27that's currently sitting across southeastern parts of Australia.

00:30Elsewhere across the country tomorrow, Queensland is looking at a few coastal showers,

00:34with showers and storms ongoing across parts of northern Australia as well.

00:38Drier weather is on the way for the far southwest.

00:42Let's take a state-by-state look at all of that now, starting with Queensland.

00:46Now showers across eastern parts of the state tomorrow,

00:50as well as in the north, with the risk of a few storms through northern and inland parts too.

00:54Moderate falls are once again a risk about the north tropical coast,

00:57but they're less likely further in the southeast.

01:00Brisbane is looking at a shower or two tomorrow, with a top of 27 degrees.

01:04For New South Wales, morning fogs are possible about the northeast coast,

01:09and then we're going to see a few showers spilling down into the Northern Rivers District

01:12throughout the day. Elsewhere though, it'll be hot and dry,

01:15with severe heatwave conditions about the south coast.

01:18Sydney is heading for a sunny top of 28 degrees tomorrow.

01:21Canberra is looking at sunny conditions and a top of 32.

01:25For Victoria, hot, humid and partly cloudy conditions across our Saturday.

01:30Severe heatwaves ongoing through east Gippsland,

01:32and extreme fire dangers across the Mallee and Wimmera in the northwest.

01:37Fire weather warnings will be issued.

01:38Melbourne is looking at an overnight minimum tonight of just 25 degrees,

01:42so it will be a very hot night, before a very hot day tomorrow with a top of 37.

01:48But the cool change is on the way. We can see it moving into western Victoria here,

01:53bringing showers, possible thunderstorms,

01:55and some moderate rainfall for the Wimmera and southwest in particular.

01:58But it is going to bring about some cooler weather for the later part of the weekend too,

02:02and it's likely to reach Melbourne late afternoon or early evening tomorrow.

02:07For Tasmania, partly cloudy, warm and humid across the state,

02:11with a few showers developing as this trough moves through later on.

02:14For Hobart, we are looking at a late shower or two, with a top of 29 degrees.

02:19Hot, cloudy across South Australia, with showers and storms possible in most areas,

02:24except the far northeast.

02:26Now, moderate falls are possible across southeastern parts of the state,

02:30possibly heavy with thunderstorms during the day,

02:33between around Oodnadatta and the Flinders Ranges.

02:36Adelaide is looking at a few showers on the way tomorrow, with a top of 29 degrees.

02:42In Western Australia, showers and thunderstorms are once again possible

02:47across northern and inland parts of the state,

02:49with the risk of heavy falls or damaging winds about the northern interior.

02:54Sunnier and more settled across southern parts of the state, however,

02:57Perth is looking at a sunny top of 29 degrees tomorrow.

03:01Across the Northern Territory, scattered showers and storms will build,

03:05with the chance of some moderate rainfall totals where those storms move overhead.

03:09It will be quite humid in the north as well, particularly around Darwin,

03:12we are looking at a humid top of 32 degrees tomorrow,

03:16showers and a possible storm on the forecast.

03:18Now a quick look ahead at Sunday, we are likely to see the cloud,

03:22rain areas, showers and storms continuing across central parts of the country,

03:27extending from the far north through Central Australia and into the southeast.

03:31Moderate to heavy rainfall totals are once again a risk through Central Australia

03:35and northern parts of South Australia.

03:37We're going to see the heat starting to contract into New South Wales and Queensland,

03:41but a milder day is on the way for Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.

03:47Meanwhile in the west we are going to see the risk of some gusty thunderstorms developing,

03:51as a new west coast trough starts to develop.
