00:00Top Cowboy Storyline this week, you probably hit it on the show, was Micah Parsons comments
00:21regarding Mike McCarthy and Zach Martin.
00:23How'd you take all that in?
00:24Boy, let me tell you what too, when you said the Top Cowboy topic this week, I genuinely
00:29had no idea where we were going to go, considering Zach's hamstring surgery announcement.
00:34You guys, I mean, click open the phone lines every day and just have at it, but I actually
00:39think with Micah, me and dad talked about this a lot, and we were fortunate those comments
00:42dropped, and we kind of had a day to take it in.
00:44We saw the strong reactions from guys like Damian Woody and Rex Ryan on Get Up, and when
00:49you really went and listened to the entirety of it, Micah Parsons' response to all that,
00:54I think he had the right intention and the wrong order of words.
00:57We shouldn't have made the comparison at the end that Zach and these guys have put
01:01so much more work than Mike McCarthy ever has.
01:03I don't think that's how he meant it.
01:05I truly do think the sentiment is there, and it's a somewhat endearing one, considering
01:09how talented Micah Parsons is and what a splash he's made since he came into the league.
01:13He's like, no, I appreciate the vets that have helped me out as I've been a young player.
01:18I've watched what these guys put their body through, and you're always going to side more
01:22and be more akin to the players that you've gone to war with there.
01:26I truly just think it was, hey, he was asked a question, he wasn't going to comment on
01:30somebody's job status, and he understands that this season, going the direction it's
01:35going now, could have such a negative effect on guys that mean a lot to him.
01:39So, again, right intention, wrong words is kind of where I put at it.
01:42So I wasn't going to come down too hard on the guy.
01:44How much are you feeling for your guy Zach Martin right now?
01:48It's tough, man.
01:49I mean, listen, Zach's a pro, and he understands that this game and this organization and his
01:54career in Dallas are going to land him a gold jacket, have changed him and his family's
01:58life forever.
01:59But even amidst all of that, all of the money and individual accolades he's got, you know
02:04he's the ultimate team guy and has wanted nothing more than to help this Cowboys team
02:09get over the playoff hump that they've been in, get back to a Super Bowl where they belong,
02:13and try and restore that for this franchise.
02:16And so I don't know how much longer Zach is going to play.
02:19I have no actual insight on that from anything.
02:22I know this is the last year of his deal, and so a lot of people are looking at that.
02:26But for a guy that's had such a stellar Cowboys career and, again, has so much to be proud
02:31about, I'm sure it is going to eat at him that they weren't able to get the level of
02:36team success that so many of them hoped for when he got drafted.
