Leeds reflects on local council services

Many local councils are in financial trouble, with some even declaring bankruptcy. How do you feel about the state of your local council services?

00:00Some projects that maybe larger councils do are a little bit of vanity projects.

00:04It may be something as simple as just putting some bollards on a road just so you've got a

00:08cycle lane where for the last 10 years a cycle lane has been quite happily functioning with

00:12minimal accidents. So yeah I think some of the councils maybe have done it to themselves. You

00:17know what you've got to manage for the year and you know you've got to deliver for your

00:20constituents and your local community so it's about managing it correctly.

00:23There's always something they're working on like roadworks, making sure the town is clean

00:28and tidy. Buses being cancelled a lot of the times, frustrating waits at bus stops for buses

00:34that don't turn up. Especially when we're with the little one because you can't always get on them,

00:39they're too busy, push chairs and wheelchairs. The streets are relatively clean depending on

00:45the area you go to and we can constantly see that the bins do get taken out and they get

00:51refreshed and stuff. However some of the issues I would have to say is with services,

00:57in particular the police.
