00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered the Department of Public Works and Highways and other government agencies

00:06to position their equipment before the two typhoons that are expected to hit outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility entered the country.

00:13Here are the details of the national news reported by Clayzel Pardilla of PTV Manila.

00:20The typhoon Mika has not yet left.

00:23Two typhoons are expected to enter the country.

00:27Despite this, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured that the government has enough funds to deal with the upcoming typhoons.

00:36Presidential Communications Secretary Cesar Chavez said,

00:40although the Calamity Fund is being reduced, which is usually felt in the last quarter of the year,

00:46President Marcos assured the Department of Budget and Management that the Calamity Fund is sufficient.

00:52The government always has funds and we have assurance from DBM that we have enough funds for the upcoming calamities until the end of December.

01:04The Calamity Fund is usually used to provide assistance to victims of the disaster,

01:10to repair damaged infrastructures, and other support for the calamities.

01:16For 2024, the Calamity Fund will receive P22 billion.

01:24Meanwhile, the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Department of Transportation were attacked by their private contractors

01:35to quickly deploy their trucks and equipment.

01:39Before the typhoons came, it is important for the clearing operations on the roads to be carried out

01:46and for the government to provide assistance quickly.

01:50The TouchAgencies of the Transportation Department and DPWH are behind this.

01:56Their trucks, their machinery, and the private contractors who have contracts with the government,

02:02DOTR and DPWH should also be prepositioned.

02:06They have instructions from DOTR, from the Department of Public Works and Highways,

02:14and the TouchAgencies of DOTR and DPWH.

02:17The trucks of the contractors who have contracts with the national government should be prepositioned.

02:27This Sunday, the Ophel and P2 typhoons are expected to hit the country.
