Leeds: How much do you trust the promises of politicians?

Following pre-election promises and the recent Budget, how much do you trust politicians and their policy ambitions?

00:04So I think the jury's out. We'll wait and see. It was a pretty brutal budget,

00:09but it needs to balance the books. And there's a new Tory leader as well, so

00:15we'll, I think, give the government a bit of a chance and see if they can keep good to their word.

00:20Pre-election, pretty much all MPs, all political parties will make promises and they're not going

00:27to be able to stick to all of them because once you're in, once you're in power, you have to make

00:32compromises. You've got to make pragmatic decisions. So all parties, whether they're

00:40Labour, Conservative or the Lib Dems, if they were forever to get in,

00:44they make promises as strategic to get them in, to get them votes. Are they lying?

00:52I don't know. No, I think it's strategy, really.

00:55They get in and then they have to make decisions based on their viewpoint, really.
