00:00Do not be confused by comments being made by opposition MP Dr. Rudal Munilal.
00:05This from Attorney General Reginald Amoh at a news conference today.
00:09Amoh sought to set the record straight following two recent Privy Council rulings.
00:14The rulings came in court matters involving the estate management business development company.
00:21It is very important ladies and gentlemen to distinguish the cartel claim from the second matter,
00:26the second judgment that was delivered yesterday also involving the EMBD.
00:32I should make it clear that nothing pronounced on by way of the Privy Council in that matter involving the EMBD
00:39and Mr. Junior Sami's company affects the merits of the case that the EMBD is going to trial on
00:46in the cartel claim against Dr. Munilal or any of the other defendants in that matter.
00:54On October 8th, the Privy Council ruled in what the AG calls the cartel matter.
00:59That ruling allows the EMBD's case against Dr. Munilal to proceed.
01:04The ruling on Tuesday came in another case, a claim by the Junior Sami company against the EMBD.
01:11Since the delivery of the Privy Council's order on the 8th of October,
01:15under which he now contemplates the witness box for his trial,
01:19the Honorable Dr. Munilal has been issuing statements in the public.
01:23In particular, since the judgment yesterday, he has been conflating,
01:28and I emphasize the word conflating, mixing up the two matters
01:33in a condemnation of the legitimate and justifiable attempts by this government
01:39to recover monies in excess of $300 million which were paid out by the EMBD
01:46allegedly, wrongly and fraudulently in the cartel claim when he was the EMBD's line minister.
