One person was killed and dozens were injured on Sunday when a truck struck a bus stop at a major intersection near Tel Aviv in central Israel in what police said they suspected was a terrorist attack.CGTN’s Jonathan Regev reports from Tel Aviv. #israel
00:00We are seven hours at the moment after the crash and still there's no confirmation as to was, if this was a deliberate action, an attack or some kind of an accident.
00:13Police and security forces in Israel have not determined that yet. Two factors have actually called this an attack.
00:20One is the Israeli Public Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, who called the driver a terrorist, saying, according to Ben-Gvir, this was a deliberate terror attack.
00:30The other factor is Hamas, which congratulated the driver on his heroic action, according to the way Hamas described it.
00:38But still, at this moment, it is unclear whether this was an accident or not.
00:43A lot of things on the ground point to a deliberate strike.
00:48This was a narrow stretch of road in which the truck suddenly sped up and hit a bus station, which was full of people, soldiers as well.
01:00This is very close to military bases. Therefore, all things indicate that this was a deliberate attack.
01:06But the family of the driver, who is an Arab-Israeli citizen, claimed that he had medical conditions, which could have led to this situation.
01:16The facts on the ground, as you mentioned, one person was killed, some 40 others injured.
01:21The driver also was shot and killed on the scene.
01:25And of course, it comes on the back of very tense days in all the other arenas in Lebanon.
01:32On the Lebanon border, the war is ongoing. In Gaza, there is still an active front.
01:37Of course, we are just a day and a half or so after the attack in Iran.
01:41So, very tense times. And whether this was a deliberate attack or not, it comes on the back of times in which tensions here are very high already.
