00:00Almondsbury has been voted the happiest place to live in the Bristol area by a recent study by Furniture Box.
00:07Let's find out if locals agree with the veredict.
00:11This is one of the best villages to live in. I've been here for just over 50 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
00:19It's got a lovely community atmosphere. There's lots of activities going on.
00:24So you name it, it carries on in the village hall. So everybody gets to know each other.
00:30But we don't spy on each other, but we do look out for each other.
00:35And we are very lucky here that we've got our own doctor's surgery and our own dentist.
00:41It's quiet, it's a nice place to live. We're 10 minutes away from Cribbs Causeway which is quite busy at Christmas etc.
00:49And we're about 20 minutes away from the middle of town. So it's a nice little hub really for anything where you need to get around Bristol.
00:56And what are your favourite areas?
01:00Without being a bit biased, I quite enjoy the pub at The Bowl. It's a nice pub, local people, it's a nice little community feel to it.
01:08Especially in the winter time it's nice, especially walking the dog and then I'll go and have a pint on my way back.
01:14The centre of the village is an excellent little hub here.
01:20And it's got everything, it's got what you expect in the centre of a village.
01:24It's got a shop, church and the pub all within walking distance.
01:30But in the wider village it's wonderfully placed.
01:39Fabulous views over the estuary, over the Severn Estuary.
01:43But it's also really convenient for anywhere you want to get to. We're just down off the M4, M5 interchange.
01:51But you really don't notice the fact that the motorways are so close.
01:57It's just a great place for communication wherever you want to go, north, south, east or west.
02:03Are there any issues with the area?
02:07The main issue in the village is rather a lot of people seem to want to park here, particularly at various times of the day.
02:15And it can get very congested.
02:19And the other issue I suppose we have is whenever there's a bog up on the motorway or the A38, we do get a lot of traffic travelling very fast through the village.
02:31Honestly the only issue is probably speed. People who don't live around here use it a bit of a racetrack.
02:37And it's just the speed and with it being quite a small village and a school nearby, it can be quite dangerous at times.
02:44Our problem is that we have no bus, so you are reliant on people taking you backwards and forwards.
02:52There is a bus up the hill, just one that takes you to Bristol.
02:57But it does mean that people are reliant on a car and that does cause congestion in the area.
