00:00Housing and local government minister Ngakor Ming did not take part in an event where the

00:10Chinese flag was waved during a procession.

00:13The minister's aide said this in response to an allegation by Perapas Commissioner Razman

00:17Zakaria that Ngakor officiated a lantern festival at Telok Intan Pera on September 13th.

00:24Razman said Section 3 of the National Emblems Act 1949 prohibits the display of foreign flags

00:29in public places or schools.

00:32Ngakor's aide also clarified that the event shown in the video was not a lantern festival

00:36as Razman claimed.

00:38Instead, she said the video showed participants of the international Guangdong Cultural Festival

00:43yesterday which included representatives from China.

00:46In a statement, Guangdong Cultural Association Chairman Sun Boon-hwa apologized for the incident

00:52and said the Chinese flags were waved by a delegation from China.
