00:00Najib Razak has denied acting against the interest of the country when testifying in
00:06a lawsuit brought by SRC International's Sandiran Berhad today.
00:11He told the Kuala Lumpur High Court that he was under a constitutional duty to act faithfully
00:15and diligently while discharging his duties as Prime Minister.
00:20Najib said he had always acted by an oath prescribed by the federal constitution when
00:24he was Prime Minister from April 2009 to May 2018.
00:29He also said he could not be expected to micromanage SRC, adding that he assumed the
00:33directors would act by the company's constitution and the Company's Act.
00:38SRC, then a government-linked company, was established and owned by the Finance Ministry
00:43to seek alternative energy sources for the nation.
00:48Between 2011 and 2012, the company received a RM4 billion loan from Retirement Fund Inc.,
00:54from which around RM3.6 billion was transferred to a Swiss bank account.
01:00Najib and former SRC CEO Nik Faisal Arif Kamil were accused of breach of trust, abuse of
01:05power, personally benefiting from the company's funds, and misappropriating the said funds.
