Businessman Steve Ferguson has again been denied by the courts, as he tries to stop the government from demanding disclosure of his assets and financial records.

This stems from a Miami court ruling in Piarco International Airport construction matter.

Ferguson, former UNC Minister Brian Kuei Tung and American businessman Raul Guitierrez Jr were ordered to repay the government over 131 million US Dollars.

00:00Businessman Steve Ferguson has been trying to get an injunction to stop the
00:05government in its tracks as the state seeks to enforce the 131 million US
00:12dollar judgment in a Miami court in the alleged corruption matter stemming from
00:17the construction of Piaco International Airport. Ferguson is trying to block the
00:23government from getting information from him in a deposition scheduled for
00:28October 24th in Miami. He claims the Attorney General has no authority under
00:35Trinidad law to initiate the Florida proceedings. Back in March Justice Nadia
00:40Kangaloo refused interim relief and in a ruling on Tuesday Justice Frank Cephas
00:47had rejected Ferguson's claim saying it was almost identical to the prior court
00:53action Ferguson filed and that the second claim did not have any
00:57fundamental factual developments to justify its filing. Cephas had added that
01:03the court cannot exercise any appellate function. The judge also said if the
01:09Attorney General's office did not have the power to file the action then the
01:13appeal court in Miami would have to make such a declaration. Anselm Gibbs TV6 News.
