00:00Nigerian Army has reacted to the self-recorded video in action made available by the Biafra
00:05Defence Forces, BDF that its men sacked operatives of the Nigerian Army from the Armed Forces
00:11of Nigeria, AFN operating base in Ehime and Bando area of Imustek during the week.
00:18BDF had stated in the video that the Nigerian soldiers were killed while some ran away with
00:23the motion pictures showing vehicles belonging to Nigerian military being sent ablaze and
00:29the military bullets barricades being destroyed.
00:32A voice in the video kept saying we are bearing it down while the camera panned to show the
00:37deserted military base being set on fire with the Biafra fighters moving around the area
00:43apparently waiting to engage military reinforcement.
00:47Residents also posted videos of the tension that grew in the Ehime and Bando area of Imustek
00:52during the week with one of the videos showing residents running to put off burning vehicle.
00:58Other video captures moment rain of bullets were being fired by security operatives in
01:03apparent exchange with the Biafra fighters in Ehime and Bando.
01:08The Biafra Defence Forces in a statement posted online said, The Biafra Defence Force has
01:14sacked and burned down the Nigerian Army base at Ehime and Bando state of Okigwe Biafra
01:19on this day, the 8th of October 2024.
01:23December 2nd is Sacrosanct.
01:25In a new statement of clarification on Thursday, the Nigerian Army stated that the claim that
01:31soldiers were killed at the Ehime and Bando area was false rather the gunmen suffered
01:36casualties.
01:38The Army said, The attention of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, NA, has been drawn to
01:44false reports circulating on certain online media platforms, claiming that an attack on
01:50troops deployed at the Ehime and Bando local government secretariat resulted in the deaths
01:55of several soldiers and civilians.
01:59These reports are baseless fabrications, a product of the imagination of the terrorist
02:04IPOC, ASN elements and their sympathizers, who aim to undermine the confidence of the
02:10people of Imustek and, by extension, the entire Southeast region.
02:16It is important to recall that on the 3rd of October 2023, the local government headquarters
02:22of Isiola and Bando local government area, built and maintained with public funds, was
02:28set ablaze and destroyed by the same IPOC, ASN criminal elements.
02:33A similar mindless attempt was made at the Ehime and Bando local government area secretariat
02:38in the late hours of the 8th of October 2024.
02:42However, the swift and gallant response of the troops thwarted the criminals' efforts
02:48to breach the local government area secretariat.
02:51The criminal elements, who arrived in large numbers and fired sporadically from a distance,
02:58were forced to retreat quickly in the face of the overwhelming firepower of the vigilant
03:02troops.
03:03During a follow-up operation conducted in the early hours of the 9th of October 2024,
03:10it was confirmed that the dissidents had suffered heavy casualties, as evidenced by
03:14bloodstains on the Ehime and Bando-Uriagu Road.
03:18The public is urged to disregard the false information spread by the online publication.
03:25The Nigerian Army remains committed to protecting citizens and critical government infrastructure
03:30in Imustek and will continue to deal decisively with any criminal elements attempting to subvert
03:36the government.
03:38It is disheartening to witness the cowardly actions of these dissidents, who burned down
03:43public buildings funded by taxpayers.
03:45Clearly, IPOC is not acting in the interest of the people but for selfish purposes.
03:52The 82 Division Headquarters encourages all residents of Imustek and the Southeast Region
03:57to continue providing security agencies with vulnerable information to help eliminate these
04:03criminal elements.
04:06Residents are urged to call the toll-free line 193 and select option 2 to report suspicious
04:12activities.
04:14We reassure the good people of the Southeast that they can continue their daily activities
04:19without fear or intimidation from any group.
04:23Rest assured, the Nigerian Army will remain vigilant in its duty to protect the nation
04:28and its citizens.
04:30The Army Press release issued and signed by J.E.
04:33Onwakolu, Lt.
04:34Colonel, Acting Deputy Director, 82 Division, Army Public Relations, stated on Thursday,
07:30the Army Press release.
