00:00Things are not working in Nigeria as they ought to work.
00:03If you take the issue of insecurity in particular,
00:07the government and the people of Nigeria have been battling insecurity for
00:10quite some time in spite of government's repeated assurances that
00:16they're going to defeat terrorism and insurgency and kidnapping.
00:20The reports that we're having from all corners of the country is that
00:25we are not defeating insurgency, we are not defeating terrorism.
00:31I would like to call on the federal government to hasten their decision or their action
00:37on the issue of state police.
00:40Insecurity is a threat to personal comfort.
00:46It's a threat to industrialization, commercial activities.
00:50It's a threat to even the freedom of movement that is guaranteed every Nigerian under the constitution.
00:57I believe that the president, Bala Sinumbu, has recognized that
01:02until he is able to fight insecurity effectively,
01:07it's not likely that any other achievements, whether in the economy or in social development,
01:15any other achievements of his government will be recognized or even appreciated by Nigerians.
01:19So in security first, every other team can follow.
