00:07a charge of causing the death of a woman while driving under the influence of drugs.
00:11Jimhar Albasar was charged with causing the death of the 31-year-old woman on Jalan Persiara
00:18Negeri by crashing his sand-laden lorry into her vehicle at around 4.15pm last Friday.
00:26He also allegedly ploughed into four other vehicles in the crash.
00:30A urine check conducted on the accused came back positive for methamphetamine.
00:35Charged, under Section 44, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act 1987, Jimhar faces
00:43imprisonment of between 10 and 15 years and a fine of 50,000 ringgit to 100,000 ringgit
00:50if convicted.
00:51He can also be barred from holding a driving licence for 10 years.
00:55DPP Nur Shafina Mohamed Radzuan told the court the prosecution was not offering bail
01:00to the accused.
01:01Jimhar's counsel, A. Pathiban, however, asked the court to allow bail as the accused
01:07had to provide for his pregnant wife and two young children.
01:11Judge Mio Sulaiman then allowed the accused to be released on 10,000 ringgit bail with
01:16one surety and fixed November 25 for next mention.
01:22In a separate court, Jimhar claimed trial to a drug abuse charge under Section 15,
01:27Subsection 1A of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
01:32The offence was allegedly committed at around 11.55pm on September 27 at the Nilai Police
01:39Station.
01:40The charge carries a fine of not more than 5,000 ringgit or a jail term not exceeding
01:46two years upon conviction.
01:48The court allowed bail at 2,500 ringgit with one surety and fixed next mention on November
01:5425.
