00:00Barisan Nasional's landslide victory in the Makota by-election has demonstrated that

00:06Pakatan Harapan's voter base is transferable to BN.

00:11This is what Johor DAP Chairman Liu Qingtong said in a post today, adding that the results

00:16augured well for further cooperation among the parties that form the unity government.

00:21Liu pointed out that BN candidate Syed Hussein Syed Abdullah secured 27,995 votes last night,

00:28nearly matching the combined 28,056 votes PH and BN received in the previous state election

00:34when they were rivals.

00:37His remarks come despite a party source saying the voter turnout rate was low among Chinese

00:41and Indian voters, while Malays made up 63% of the voters who turned up to cast their

00:45ballots.

00:47Liu also said BN's victory in Makota showed that the collaboration between PH and BN is

00:53the winning formula for the next general election.

00:57He believed that the unity government would be able to convince middle ground voters

01:00with effective governance and inspirational policies.
