00:00The Water and Sewage Authority is advising that revised water schedules will go into effect for some parts of the country by tomorrow,
00:08as reservoir levels across Trinidad remain extremely low.
00:13If we look at the whole system, those will be areas in the northeast area,
00:17so that areas such as the Arema Old Road, La Flores and Lillian Heights,
00:24Bragan Park down to where the system ends at the Eastern Main Road, Aruka.
00:33Healthy areas such as parts of Santa Cruz as well as South Trinidad also stand to be further affected.
00:40However, Pinal Rock Road is in for some relief after weeks of water supply issues.
00:46La Castina is that we are working on, actually tomorrow should be a subterranean exercise,
00:52a project in Carapal which will positively impact that area in terms of our well supply.
01:00So we are aware and we are taking the necessary measures to ensure that any fallout would be at a minimum.
01:11WASA says the Ministry of Public Utilities took the decision to delay the shutdown of the SALCUT
01:17to help alleviate the current water shortage issues.
01:20This as rainfall levels have been below average all year, with no rail relief expected until December.
01:28Below normal temperature rainfall for both October and November,
01:32and as you can see it kind of mostly over Trinidad and kind of Tobago,
01:38there's a lesser percentage, so that's maybe why they are having a mixed bag.
01:45December, looking at near normal rainfall patterns for December and January to pick up,
01:51in terms of rainfall amounts, I want you guys to see it's above normal.
01:56As a result, reservoirs across Trinidad are at the lowest they have been in years.
02:01The current reservoir levels as of September 2024 are as follows.
02:07The Kearney Arena Reservoir, 35% capacity as compared to the LTA of 76%.
02:16Hollis Reservoir, 32% compared to the LTA of 69%.
02:22And the Navette Reservoir, 45% compared to the LTA of 77%.
02:28WASA is urging members of the public to take steps to conserve water wherever possible.
02:33Taking shorter showers, we're doing our laundry,
02:37to set the load selector in terms of the size of the loads that we're washing.
02:45To use a broom to sweep our yards instead of the hose to do so.
02:51To turn off the tap while brushing your teeth.
02:53These are all very simple measures that we could all utilize.
