00:00What is going on with the transport in Manchester?
00:02Hello everyone and welcome to Manchester world now usually we try and steer clear of doing pieces like this
00:07Where essentially you've got me talking at you for two minutes with so many things affecting Manchester's transport at the minute
00:12We thought it'd be a good idea to break everything down for you so that you're aware of what's going on
00:17Now let's start with the good news and there is actually quite a lot this week
00:20Tram disruption should be significantly better this time around with the completion of the works going on
00:25Near the Piccadilly Garden stop the new paving looks excellent, and it should mean that the journey's become a little more efficient
00:31Secondly work seems to be progressing well on the Castleton bridge replacement
00:34The M62 is closed over the weekend currently with empty roads required to build a new rail bridge to replace the old 60 year old one
00:40The fact that there haven't yet been any delays will be music to the ears of those who rely on the train to get between
00:45Manchester and Rochdale because due to the lack of train service
00:47The motorway the city's car parks and the tram service in Rochdale have been incredibly congested over the last week or so particularly in rush
00:54On some more updates and Adam Lord our editor has done a piece warning people about a scam that offers unlimited access to all of
01:00Manchester's public transport
01:02Scam appeared on social media recently with people being offered the chance to win B cards
01:06Giving them unlimited six-month access to the B network
01:09And the B network have requested that those who see the post report it to prevent vulnerable people from falling victim to it
01:15So, please be wary about what you say online
01:17Finally stage 5 for the work at Piccadilly station has begun
01:20The closure began in June and the goal for this stage is to install new netting on the roof of the station
01:25Work will continue right through until the end of October and while some platforms will be closed due to the work
01:30The impact on travellers is not expected to be very substantial
01:33This stage itself will see platforms 5 & 6 closed until September 28th
01:37Well, the final stage will close platforms 7 & 8 between the same day and October 20th
01:42Now Manchester's transport links are always in flux due to the sheer amount of work that needs to be done across trams trains and buses
01:49But with the Piccadilly work nearing completion and only a week and a half left until the new Castleton bridge is open for business
01:54It's looking very much as though there is a light at the end of the tunnel for Manchester's residents and its commuters
