Bristol City Council says the existing 1930s shopping parade at 4-16 Filwood Broadway in Knowle West is ‘deteriorated’ and ‘a barrier for investment’ in the high street.

00:00A new row of shops and flats is set to replace an old row of shops and flats in South Bristol.
00:07Bristol City Council says that the existing 1930s shopping parade of 14 to 16 Filwood
00:13Broadway in Norwest is deteriorated and a barrier for investment in the high street.
00:20The council says a new four-storey block of 400 square metres of shopping space with 18
00:25yards above could replace the existing three-storey structure.
00:30It is currently consulting on proposals which are part of a £15 million regeneration project
00:36for the Ryder Street.
00:38To get to this stage, the planning team met with stakeholders and held multiple engagement
00:43sessions with local people to invite them to have their say about the proposals.
00:49A design team led by a London-based architect, RCKA, supported by locally-based sub-consultants
00:56have been working to bring forward the planning application.
