00:00Hi, I'm Theo with Manchester World today. I'm out on the streets of Manchester asking people about British pride.
00:04And that's because surveys have found we're at our lowest ebb currently in terms of national pride.
00:08So we want to know if people are proud to be English, what they're proud of, and whether we should be proud,
00:12what we need to emphasise, and what we need to maybe move away from.
00:15It's more of a niche thing about British culture.
00:19So, like, the queer community and British culture.
00:23Just little things like that, rather than nationally speaking.
00:28What we should be priding ourselves on, like, to be English, should be, like,
00:32our, like, inclusiveness and acceptance and, like, just welcoming people and, like, community.
00:37That's what, to me, being English is.
00:40Manchester itself has quite a gorgeous history within the queer community.
00:44And I suppose me moving here last year, it's, like, I had something I'm very proud of.
00:48Yeah, like, for sports and music and stuff like that, I feel like England is, like, I feel proud to be English on that front.
00:55But, like, when it comes to, like, the riots and stuff like that that are happening, it makes me feel a bit embarrassed to be English.
