My name is Raymond Currie and I'm the lead candidate for the Libertarian Party.
00:05
And we're here at the Windjukurri Beshire Council Chambers today where you're campaigning
00:10
leading up to the election on Saturday. Can you tell me a little bit about your thoughts
00:17
on this news and the timing of it?
00:21
My initial thoughts were I was concerned about it. The timing was was mostly inappropriate.
00:30
Surely you could have waited for another week or so until the new councillors were appointed.
00:38
The initial response was I was quite displeased with it.
00:47
But the reality is that it has passed and now it's a challenge for the new councillors
00:52
in order to work with it.
00:55
If you had known that this was on the table would it have had any impact on your decision
01:01
to run for council?
01:02
No it wouldn't. Running for council, the reality is you're confronted with challenge
01:08
after challenge after challenge and this is but merely one of those challenges.
01:13
So no it wouldn't have made an impact.
01:15
Do you feel confident that you will have the freedom to implement the changes that you
01:22
want to see?
01:24
It will be a bit of a struggle in the sense that it will be a lot slower than what we had
01:29
anticipated. It will happen but perhaps not at the rate that we would ideally like.
