00:00The government will study the autonomous vehicle laws of other countries in amending Malaysia's

00:06Road Transport Act to allow autonomous buses to operate here.

00:11Transport Minister Lok Si Fook said amendments to the Act are definitely needed since Malaysia

00:16lacks specific laws for self-driving vehicles.

00:20He however said no time frame has been set for these amendments.

00:25Lok also said a proof of concept is currently taking place for the autonomous bus while

00:29the ministry has a committee looking specifically into autonomous vehicles.

00:34Meanwhile, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said autonomous public transportation trials

00:40are being carried out in many cities across the globe including Shanghai in China and

00:45Hamburg in Germany.

00:48He said Malaysia is developing its own autonomous vehicle technology tailored to local road

00:52and traffic conditions.
