00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. It remains unsettled
00:06over the course of Sunday and into next week as well. At the moment, low pressure in charge
00:10of our weather bringing outbreaks of heavy rain, some thunderstorms as well. Just notice
00:15those slightly drier for Northern Ireland and Scotland. And if we play the sequence
00:19through, this area of low pressure pulls away. However, we switch the winds to a northerly
00:24direction and as we head towards the middle of next week, we introduce colder air, quite
00:29cold for the time of year as well across many areas. Temperatures below average, perhaps
00:34a touch of snow over the Scottish mountains as well. For the early hours, we've seen
00:41some heavy showers, thunderstorms push across England and Wales, some localised flooding
00:45in places too. So you may have been woken up by some flashes of lightning, some rumbles
00:50of thunder. So let's take a look at the details for Sunday afternoon. We can see a band of
00:55rain across Northern England, stretching down into Wales, the West Country, some heavy
00:59bursts in here. So it's stayed quite cloudy and gloomy here. To the south-east, turning
01:04brighter but some heavy showers possible, some thunderstorms here and some localised
01:10flooding is possible. The Met Office rain warning out for much of England and Wales
01:14through the day. Generally drier for Northern Ireland and Scotland but cloudier here compared
01:19to recent days, a cloud thick enough for some Apache rain at times too. The wind's coming
01:25in more of a northerly direction across Scotland and Northern Ireland so temperatures are lower
01:29compared to recent days. We've seen 25-26 Celsius here but this afternoon 17-21 Celsius
01:36and similar values under the cloud and rain. Best of the temperatures will be towards the
01:41south-east in the sunshine, reaching around 23, possibly 24 degrees. As we head through
01:48into the evening time, this weather system gives further outbreaks of heavy rain across
01:53Northern England, perhaps south-east Scotland for a time too, and then into the early hours
01:57just starts to ease a little and push its way eastwards. So notice how we could still
02:01see a few rumbles of thunder and heavier bursts across south-east England right through the
02:06night. Clearer skies coming in across Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland, and under the
02:10clearest skies, temperatures lower than we've seen for quite some time, dipping into single
02:15figures under the cloud and rain across much of England and Wales, generally holding up
02:20around 14-15 Celsius. So grey stars across central eastern parts of England in particular,
02:26outbreaks of rain here, then only slowly through the days as this push a little further eastwards
02:31so some eastern areas staying cloudy and damp all day. Brightening skies, Northern England,
02:36Wales, the West Country, the West Midlands as we go through into the afternoon, plenty
02:40of sunny spells here. Morning sunshine being replaced by a thicker cloud across much of
02:44Scotland and Northern Ireland. The next weather system bringing some rain and stronger winds
02:49to western parts by the afternoon and temperatures a little lower for everyone, the winds starting
02:54to change to that north-westerly direction. So mid-teens across the north of the UK, high
03:00teens in the south, perhaps locally 20 Celsius, which is actually nearer to where they should
03:04be for the time of year. Turning wetter and windier into the evening time across the north-west
03:10of the UK as this system slowly pushes its way eastwards, generally dry end to the day
03:14across much of England and Wales, but a few showers still possible and then weather systems
03:20pushing south-eastwards through the week and turning much colder for all. For more information
