00:00Good afternoon, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It's been a bit of a damp start for many of us this morning, all thanks to a weather
00:08front situated out to the west of the country.
00:10This will continue to spread its way eastwards as we go through the rest of the weekend,
00:14bringing further outbreaks of rain.
00:15But then high pressure starts to build down towards the south, so a north-west-south-east
00:19split developing with low pressure never too far away across parts of the north-west of
00:23the country as we get towards the middle part of the week.
00:27Back to the rest of Saturday though, we'll continue to see some quite heavy rain across
00:31eastern parts of Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland, with yellow rain warnings
00:35in force here.
00:37We could see some quite short, sharp downpours across parts of Northern Ireland, leading to
00:40some localised flooding, as well as western parts of Scotland too.
00:45Elsewhere it will generally be a little bit drier, though across much of England and Wales
00:47there will be quite a lot of cloud around.
00:49The south-east fairing best in terms of any sunnier spells, but one or two isolated showers
00:54couldn't be ruled out, and feeling pleasantly warm where you do see the sunshine across
00:57the south-east.
00:58Temperatures are round about average for the time of year, highs of 18 or 19 degrees, but
01:02feeling a little cooler across the north and the west.
01:05Temperatures here only into the mid-teens, and rather blustery if you're underneath all
01:09of that cloud and rain.
01:12As we then go through Saturday evening, that rain continues to push its way eastwards, still
01:16bringing some outbreaks of heavy rain across western parts of Scotland.
01:19Further south as it pushes eastwards, it generally breaks up, turning a little patchier in nature,
01:23but still staying really quite damp and blustery across much of Scotland as we go into the
01:28early hours of Sunday morning.
01:30Parts of Wales and south-west England generally turning drier overnight, perhaps turning a
01:33little chilly here too.
01:35The odd touch of grass frost is possible.
01:37But also some mist and fog under those clear skies and light winds across parts of Wales and
01:41south-west England into the early hours of Sunday morning.
01:45The further east you are, generally staying a little bit milder, particularly if you're stuck
01:47underneath that cloud.
01:48So a bit of a milder start here to Sunday morning.
01:53Any mist and fog that we do see across the south-west does clear pretty quickly through
01:56Sunday morning.
01:58As well as that rain across much of Scotland, that clears northwards too.
02:01But across the south-east we continue to see that weather front just lingering across
02:05that south-east corner, so staying rather cloudy here.
02:07Some outbreaks of patchy rain continuing through Sunday afternoon.
02:10Elsewhere though, generally a drier picture.
02:13One or two isolated showers are possible, particularly the further north you are and the further west
02:17you are, but across the south-west southern parts of England generally faring best in terms
02:20of the most prolonged sunshine and feeling pleasant once again in that sunshine.
02:24Lighter winds for most, highs of 19 or 20 degrees across the south and definitely across
02:29the north feeling more pleasant than it did on Saturday.
02:33As we then go through Sunday evening, we'll continue to see that band of cloud and patchy
02:37rain push offshore across the very far south-east, a tonny drier for all of us.
02:41And with those light winds and clear skies, a greater risk of mist and fog as we go into
02:46the early hours of Monday morning, almost anywhere I could see some mist and fog, but particularly
02:50across eastern parts of England into the early hours.
02:53With those clear skies as well, a much chillier night to come on Sunday night compared to
02:57Saturday.
02:58Quite widely those temperatures dropping into the mid, maybe even low single figures, so
03:03once again some frost is possible in places.
03:05And that means quite a chilly but bright start to the day on Monday.
03:08However, the north-west-south-east split does then start to develop as we go towards the
03:13middle part of the week.
