00:00Investigate the technical issues plaguing Malaysia Airlines.
00:05This is a call by former Transport Minister Wee Kar Siong to Putrajaya following numerous
00:09reports of the national carrier being forced to make many emergency landings.
00:14Wee said there have been at least eight incidents reported since 2023, leading passengers to
00:19lose confidence and question if it was still safe to fly with Malaysia Airlines.
00:23He said this loss of confidence could harm the country's reputation and cause losses
00:27for Malaysia Aviation Group, the parent company of Malaysia Airlines, if these incidents continue.
00:33Ultimately, he said it could also affect the country's economy.
00:37Wee called for action after several Malaysia Airlines flights, including recent ones to
00:41Medina where pressurisation forced a Malaysia Airlines flight bound to return to KLIA yesterday.
00:46On Tuesday, Malaysia Airlines flight MH386 bound for Shanghai returned to KLIA due to
00:52a cabin pressure issue, while flight MH128 from Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur diverted to
00:57Alice Springs due to mid-air engine problems.
01:00Three other Malaysia Airlines flights have also had to make emergency landings recently.
