00:00The Caribbean Premier League's Health, Fitness and Wellbeing Advisory Board is launching the CPL Hit for Six initiative.
00:07The program was created by the board, which teamed up with Barbados-based fitness instructor Spinney
00:13to create a six-minute cricket-themed, high-intensity interval training session.
00:19Board member Dr. Mariam Abdul Richards provided some background on the program.
00:24We are partnering as Caribbean people to promote and to really enhance health education, health awareness.
00:31We are working together with our islands and throughout the Caribbean to come up with a Caribbean-based workout
00:38that can tackle and reduce the impact of those comorbidities that we've seen impact us, high blood pressure and diabetes.
00:45Fans can even get involved during this year's CPL Games.
00:50But for those who can't be at the games, there's nothing to fear, as the workout is also available online.
00:56The intention would be to have fans actually participate in the Hit for Six during games and at the stadium.
01:03And the CPL would be reaching out to relevant persons in each country to really get that group of persons together.
01:10But of course, via our Instagram page, CPLT20, the workouts are available.
01:16Dr. Abdul Richards also announced another initiative which goes hand-in-hand with the Hit for Six initiative.
01:22There's another initiative that ties into this that's really exciting.
01:26And I really would like our fans and all of our viewers to really look into this one,
01:31in that for every six that is scored in CPL, 50 US dollars would be donated.
01:39And that money will now be allocated to a health and wellness cause,
01:44not just in one or two islands, but spread across the different islands in the Caribbean.
01:48So we're all doing our part to improve the health and wellness of our people, our families, our friends,
01:54and also this factors and improves our regional development.
