00:00It is what we expected when the Denver Broncos drafted Bo Nix 12th overall in the 2024 NFL

00:10draft that Nix would be the starter in the mile high city from the very jump week number

00:15one for the Broncos on the road against the Seattle Seahawks.

00:20But what made it confusing was the Broncos initial depth chart where Bo Nix was listed

00:24behind Jared Stidham and Zach Wilson as the third string quarterback, but Nix has shown

00:31out throughout training camp and in preseason football for Denver.

00:35So yesterday, Sean Payton made it official.

00:37Bo Nix is the starting quarterback for the Broncos.

00:41He will start the season opener in Seattle against the Seahawks week number one.

00:45This is what's supposed to happen when you're a bad football team, which technically the

00:49Denver Broncos were last year moved off of Russell Wilson.

00:52You're looking for your franchise quarterback.

00:54You draft a quarterback in round number one, and it's not a 19 year old per se, right,

00:58Ben?

00:59That's only started eight games.

01:00And you're saying, hey, he's got a high upside.

01:02Let's see if we can get after it.

01:03No, this quarterback's been around the block and has shown his moxie in college through

01:06a couple major conferences.

01:08So he comes in.

01:09You just want to see him like OTAs and camp just have a good preseason.

01:12But also, let's get down to the crux of this year.

01:15The Green Bay Packers in the past, we use this so many times.

01:18Draft a quarterback, wait three or four years, put him in and it's worked out.

01:21Why?

01:22Because you're going up against Hall of Fame quarterbacks where maybe you don't expect

01:25a rookie quarterback to actually be able to line up and say, I can beat out Aaron Rodgers

01:30in his prime.

01:31I can beat out Brett Favre in his prime.

01:33But as you measure up with the Denver Broncos, it's Jared Stidham.

01:37Like come on.

01:38Like, is that really who you're beating out at this point, Jared Stidham and Zach Wilson?

01:41Of course, you expected your high round number one rookie quarterback to beat them out.

01:46Otherwise, what did you draft them for?

01:47But also, the one thing I do like is, it wasn't as if they just handed over the torch

01:51and said, this is your football team.

01:53Day number one.

01:54They actually let him earn it.

01:55Gave a little adversity.

01:56Hey, you're third on the depth chart.

01:58Play your way into this position here.

01:59Probably fully well-known.

02:00He could do that.

02:01But I loved what I saw to Bo Nix seize the opportunity.

02:04But again, it's still Jared Stidham and Zach Wilson, he beat out.

02:07It's not as if it's like, wow, that was a major upset.

02:09This is what should have happened and happened.
