Political Analyst Dr. Winford James has raised some concerns about the way the government has handled the issue of Constitution Reform.

He was speaking on TV6 Morning Edition.
Transcript
00:00No fixed election dates, no to proportion representation for the general election and a parliamentary oversight of the DPP's office were discussed last evening at a special convention at the National Academy of Performing Arts held by the People's National Movement.
00:16Today, political analyst Dr. Winford James questioned the manner in which the report of the Constitution Reform Committee was handled by the government.
00:25Dr. James said the government cannot just change the way the Constitution is written without the views of the United National Congress.
00:55Dr. James asked, what happens to Tobago? Where does the island fall in the Constitution Reform exercise?
01:11Is the oversight of the executive, is that there in the report, for example?
01:17Well, I don't know.
01:18I have not read it. But you do need a situation where, if you want good governance, where the executive is overseen by, you know, some units in the Constitution.
01:36The parliament cannot be talking to itself as if it's only a simple majority you need. You know, that doesn't bring the best framework to the fore.
