The company of the tour bus involved in a crash that claimed two lives on Jalan Genting Highlands two months ago was charged at the Bentong magistrate's court on Aug 19 with two counts of allowing a driver to drive the bus without a licence and using a bus with an expired permit.

00:00The company operating the tour bus involved in a road accident that claimed two lives
00:06on Jalan Gernting Highlands in June was charged at the Bentong Magistrates' Court on Monday.
00:12M. Kumar Trans Tour Sendirian Berhad, represented by its director M. Kumar, pleaded not guilty
00:19to both the charges of allowing its bus driver to operate the vehicle without a license and
00:24using a bus with an expired permit.
00:27The bus driver, S. Anand Kumar, allegedly drove the vehicle in a reckless manner without
00:32a valid license, causing the death of two passengers.
00:36He had pleaded not guilty to the charges in the Raub Magistrates' Court in early July.
00:41During the incident that happened at the 16.5 km of Jalan Gernting Highlands on June 29,
00:47the bus with 21 people on board veered off and crashed into a road divider when descending
00:53from Genting Highlands.
00:55Two Chinese tourists, Zhang Ping and Wang Suhong, were killed while a dozen others sustained
01:00injuries.
01:01The incident prompted the government to beef up enforcement against errant tour agencies
01:05and tour bus service providers.
01:08The Land Public Transport Agency has since revoked the bus operator's license.
01:12The court set Sept. 27 for re-mention on the case against the bus company.
