00:00I'm here at the Corn Racecourse, located almost four hours away from Adelaide, where an ultralight
00:07plane crashed yesterday.
00:09The gyrocopter clipped a nearby ute before crashing into the roof behind me, causing
00:14multiple holes.
00:15There were multiple visitors and volunteers on site at the time, and thankfully two electricians
00:22jumped into action to pat down the fire, unbuckle and drag the pilot from the plane.
00:28The 33-year-old pilot suffered serious lacerations, but the police say his injuries are non-life
00:34threatening.
00:36And the president of the club here, Dean Montgomery, said the town is still in shock, but the outcome
00:42could have been much worse.
00:43Yeah, well anyway, sort of couldn't believe what happened, sort of what was going to happen,
00:48so I think after that we just all rallied and rushed around to see if the pilot was
00:54OK, and then we had to bang, get into the emergency services to come out and notify
01:01the police, and it was really good how they responded so quickly.
01:04The volunteers are now working hard to get the place ready for the Corn Race's Saturday.
