People on the street: Do we want driverless taxis in Manchester?

Uber are sending 100,000 driverless cars to Europe to operate as taxis, so we hit the streets of Manchester to see whether your average Manc would trust them.

00:00Hi, I'm Theo with Manchester World. Today I'm out on the streets of Manchester talking to people

00:03about driverless cars. That's because Uber are sending over 100,000 driverless cars to access

00:08taxis here in Europe. So how do people feel about that? Would you be happy driving around in a car

00:12with no driver? Well, let's find out. I've seen Total Recall, I can go horribly wrong.

00:18The only reason why I say no is because that means it's going to be putting a lot of people

00:22out of jobs, a lot of minorities out of jobs. Some people feed their families based off their

00:26Uber drivers, because I go on Ubers a lot, and when I speak to them, that's literally all they

00:32do. I've seen the ones in America, have you seen them? No. I've seen them in America on my Instagram

00:36and stuff like that, and they seem pretty good. So if they're the same ones as them, it might work.

00:44Essentially, because it's who's responsible if there was an issue, who's responsible if there's

00:49a crash. If a driver is in the car, then they're responsible. In the case of taxis,

00:55they're a professional driver. So yeah, it's a case of responsibility.
