00:00Hi I'm Theo with Manchester World today I'm out on the streets of Manchester asking people
00:03about night buses and that's because here in Manchester we're trialling two new services
00:07which run right through the evening to avoid people getting stuck in the centre or having
00:10to fork out a lot of money for a taxi. If the trial goes well we could very well see
00:14it rolled out to many more services so I want to know whether people think it's a good idea
00:18or whether it's a waste of public money. Let's see what you said.
00:21It's a good thing and I think it's good to keep people safe.
00:25I think it's a great thing. I think it'll really help with making people feel a lot
00:33safer, they've got more options to get back to where they need to go.
00:39Considering I almost got stranded in town literally not a few weeks ago because I almost
00:44missed my last bus, oh my god yes. I think that's a brilliant idea because if you get
00:51stuck in town, if you're in town late on a Friday night and you miss your last bus
00:58you're spending about £30 for an Uber. So having a late bus that goes wherever and whenever
01:06I think that's going to do a lot of good. I think that's going to do a lot of good personally.
01:10I have to leave work 10 minutes or 15 minutes before I'm actually meant to just so I can
01:15get the last bus home on weekdays. As far as I was aware on weekends it goes to like
01:213 in the morning which is quite late but yeah I think if there was one that was just
01:26going all night that would be great for a lot of people.
01:30We did in Liverpool after an Elton John concert and we had to walk down into the city centre
01:36to get a taxi to go to where we wanted because there weren't enough buses.
01:41It should help people in that. Yeah, any major city should have a free night
01:45bus. As long as like maybe testing out how many
01:48people would actually use it. I wouldn't want money going to waste on something that's not
01:53going to be used but I can imagine it definitely would be.
01:57I'm Theo with Manchester World, follow us for more.
