Skinny Doberman Living In A Cage For A Year Looks So Different Now

This skinny doberman was living in a cage for a year — wait to see what he looks like now. We sent him a very special picnic lunch to enjoy with his rescuer!

00:02Oh, that's a good view right there.

00:04Oh, baby. I'm sorry.

00:06His condition was probably the most severe I've ever seen before.

00:11Oh, hi.

00:13His enclosure was pretty well hidden.

00:16There was a lot of debris and stuff that was obstructing our view,

00:19so we had to go and kind of walk around and find him.

00:21Hi, buddy.

00:22Hi, sweetie.

00:25Good boy.

00:26I went to go scan him for a microchip,

00:28and he tried to bite the microchip scanner.

00:31He was not doing that out of aggression or anything.

00:34He was doing that because he was so hungry.

00:38Oh my god, look at him.

00:41As soon as we walked up to the enclosure, he met us on the other side.

00:47Hi, buddy.

00:48He just kept putting his head in our hands

00:51and just bearing all of his weight towards us.

00:55Like, he knew that we were there to help him.

00:59We were able to get Chucky's owners to surrender him

01:03so that we could take him back to the facility

01:05and get him evaluated immediately by our kennel staff.

01:15Foster has been working super diligently on his recovery and his weight gain,

01:20and he's put on a lot of weight and acting more like a normal dog.

01:25I had been thinking about Chucky, and I reached out to his foster mom.

01:29We were able to arrange him coming to the shelter.

01:32The dodo was kind enough to provide us with lunch,

01:36and we were able to have a picnic.

01:38Chucky is very fond of food, so he had a great time,

01:43and I was able to sit down and interact with him and see his progress.

01:55I cannot believe he's eating the broccoli.

02:03Chucky would thrive in a home where he has a lot of human interaction

02:07and a lot of attention.

02:12I think Chucky would do well in a home that has another dog

02:15because he is dog-friendly.

02:18It makes me really happy knowing that we were able to step in

02:22and get this dog the help that he needed,

02:24and it makes me extremely happy to know that Chucky is going to be cared for.

02:30Chucky will be loved moving forward,

02:32and it is an amazing feeling to know that we were a part of that.
