Co-founder Phil Quirk talks us through the new Meta Lounge pop-up bar in Marine Parade, Peel

00:00It's very much themed around Ibiza, the traditional Café Del Mar, Café Mambo experience.

00:15We wanted to create a sunset bar which captures the amazing sunsets that can happen in Peel

00:20and bring that magic into a bar setting.

00:24So we've got food with Burra Burra, the whole menu is Ibiza themed, so we've got things

00:29like the Carl Cox House Burger, the Fat Boy Not Slim Burger, Café Del Nacho, so all different

00:35twists on favourites but you know, themed around Ibiza.

00:40The drinks packages are, we've kind of got two simultaneous bars, so we've got a walking

00:44bar which you can just arrive, you don't need to book, you don't need to pay, you don't

00:47need to do anything, just arrive and have a beer.

00:50And then we've got day cabanas where you pre-book them and then you put a deposit down and then

00:56it's a minimum spend per person.

00:58I'm from Peel and my business partner and co-founder, she's from Peel, so we first seen

01:03this site with some other guys that we've worked a lot with around about 18 months ago

01:09in the winter.

01:10We come and look at it and even in the winter in the rain, we kind of seen this blank canvas

01:14and thought this could be something magical and that's where the idea started and it kind

01:18of grew from there.

01:19Peel, you know, I'm very, obviously having grown up here myself, have a real strong affinity

01:25with wanting Peel to do really well and, you know, when you look at kind of inter-island

01:30tourism and where people go on sunny days, Peel has always been that destination and

01:34perhaps in the last four or five years, not so much.

01:38So we really hope that we can bring more people to Peel so all of the businesses have a benefit

01:43from that as well.

01:45I think there's something for everyone and I think that's reflective of our drinks menu.

01:49We've got a walk-in bar where the drinks are really, really competitively priced and then

01:56we've got a VIP menu which has some real high-ticket items on it.

02:02So we're trying to have something that if anyone came to the bar and they really wanted

02:07to spend a lot of money, we've got everything that they would want, but if you want to come

02:11and just have some beers, then I think we're really competitive against everyone else.

02:14So we hope it's somewhere where it's multi-generational, where young people and older people can come

02:21down and get excited about events going on in the Isle of Man.

02:26Thursday and Friday it's 5pm to 10pm, Saturday and Sunday it's 12pm midday till 10pm and

02:34then we're open bank holding Monday on the 26th as well.

02:38It's only here for the whole of August, it shuts on Saturday the 31st and we're open

02:43Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and that bank hold day as well.
