00:00Hi, I'm James Murphy, I'm the commercial director with Glasgow Print Studio.
00:29So we're here in Glasgow Print Studio in Trongate 103 in Glasgow's Merchant City and we're here
00:34to present a new exhibition called Between Islands, which is a collaboration between
00:38ourselves and Graphic Studio Dublin.
00:41So our first collaboration with Graphic Studio, we're delighted to be working with them.
00:46They're a historic print-based organisation like ourselves, they were constituted in 1960
00:53with their gallery starting in 1988, similar to ourselves we're going since 1972.
00:59So it's an opportunity for the studios to build a relationship with each other and also
01:05in terms of the individual artists, it's giving them an international platform in order to
01:11kind of expose their work to different audiences.
01:13Six artists in total, so the way that we approached the show from a curatorial point of view was
01:19we made blind selections of the artists, myself and my compatriot over in Graphic Studio Dublin.
01:28We picked according to sort of what kind of artists we thought we might like to show and
01:34then a theme naturally emerged from that selection.
01:38We ended up with six artists in total, three per studio, and our theme was Between Islands,
01:43which was essentially landscape and seascape work.
01:47The show covers a range of techniques, which I think shows a good spread of printmaking
01:54styles and approaches, everything from kind of etching through chinkalay, there's a bit
02:00of mokuhanga, various other techniques as well.
02:03So our hope is that it kind of creates a sort of a cohesive identity under which we can
02:11kind of look at the different artists' approaches to the theme.
02:14It is free.
02:15It's free to everyone to visit any time between our opening hours, which are 10 to 5.30 Tuesday
02:21to Saturday.
02:22We open on Friday the 2nd and it's open until Saturday the 28th of September.
