We're at Corfe Barn Farm, Brockton, Shropshire and this is where the ploughing match is going
00:08
to be on the 22nd of September.
00:10
Obviously we're going to have a lot of ploughmen hopefully, usually we get around about 50
00:15
or 60 and then there will be other things for other people to come and see and look
00:20
at.
00:21
We'd like to try and make the family day out if we can and the emphasis is on charities
00:28
obviously with the ploughing matches.
00:30
The guys come from, and ladies, come from all over, they're not just locals, they travel
00:35
from Wales and Staffordshire and all the different areas around.
00:40
This actual ploughing match originally started about 35 years ago and it started as what
00:47
they, at the time they called it a working day, so a group of people just got together
00:52
and just ploughed and enjoyed themselves and it basically progressed from there.
00:58
Well we work towards charity, to donate to charities, different charities.
01:02
Over the years we've done Air Ambulance, which now we do others as well for cancer,
01:11
Lincoln Davies, Hope House and the local prostate cancer group.
01:18
We've raised in excess of £25,000 over about, as I say, 30, 35 years.
01:26
The first years, up until, well and including last year, we've always given to the Shropshire
01:33
Air Ambulance, Midland Air Ambulance, whichever banner it goes under now, but last year we
01:40
decided we wanted to split the money between more local charities, so last year we did
01:46
Seven Hospice, Lincoln Davies and the Air Ambulance.
01:51
This year we're doing prostate cancer, the local prostate cancer, Lincoln Davies and
01:57
Hope House and most people in the area have used those charities and all the services
02:08
that you get from Lincoln Davies, Hope House and the local prostate cancer group.
02:12
We do want to emphasise, we want the public, we want to make the family do as much as it
02:18
is a competition like, you know.
