00:07But Gunnar Henderson and Jackson Holiday

00:09are both represented by Scott Boris, and only one of them

00:12can play shortstop, and that's Gunnar Henderson.

00:14So these people talking about seven years of Jackson Holiday.

00:17Jackson Holiday, if you get five years out of him,

00:20that's going to be it, because you're

00:22going to have to trade him with two years left

00:23if you want to get true value.

00:24And I got news for you.

00:26Boris and Matt Holiday are not going

00:27to be super happy about this kid playing second base, where

00:30you earn a whole hell of a lot less than short.

00:34They're overloaded with infielders.

00:37They are ridiculously redundant at so many positions,

00:41yet they have no pitching under contract for next year

00:44that's any good, besides Grayson Rodriguez.

00:46I'm not even talking about this year's playoff run.

00:48I'm talking about next year.

00:50And I don't think Michael Ives wants to go out and spend

00:52real money on pitching.

00:54And they don't have any in the high minors

00:56other than Povich and McDermott, who are already dabbling now,

00:59who were really thought of very highly.

01:01So I would absolutely do it.

01:03There are no sure things.

01:04There are no guarantees.

01:05But I'll take my shot at three playoff

01:07runs with Tarek Skubal versus whatever the best three

01:11or four seasons you get out of Jackson Holiday,

01:14when or if he gets over this sort of learning curve

01:16that he experienced his first 10 games here.

01:20Will they do it, though?

01:24They've shown no inclination to do anything that ballsy.

01:27They are pragmatic and prudent and measured.

01:30Like, there is concern about 2027 and 2028 and 2029

01:35as they are this pennant race.

01:37That's what all of their actions to this point have indicated.

01:40Now, will the GM get a pulse?

01:42Like, will he sack up?

01:44Will he finally dip into his treasure trove of prospects

01:49who are so awesome and they're so crazy?

01:51He doesn't want to call any of them up.

01:52He didn't want to give Jackson Holiday more than 10 games.

01:55They won't call Kobe Mayo up.

01:56Like, they've F'd Kyle Stowers over a million times.

01:59Like, Heston Kerstad barely gets in the lineup now.

02:02But they're all so awesome.

02:03Will he actually part with a couple of them

02:06to get a sure thing?

02:07I don't know.

02:09If someone gives him a burst trade, a complete no-brainer,

02:13of course he's going to do that.

02:14Will he make a trade that hurts him,

02:16that drops him to eighth in the Baseball America franchise?

02:19Like, ooh, we've only got the eighth best farm system now.

02:22I don't know how I'm going to sleep at night.

02:24I mean, we might win a World Series,

02:25but, geez, a whiz, we're out of the top five.
