00:08More than 250 National Union of Bank Employees members
00:12took part in peaceful lunch hour pickets at five banks nationwide today.
00:17NUBE said the protests were to highlight various key issues,
00:21including persistent union-busting attempts by bank managements,
00:25exorbitant salaries paid to CEOs,
00:27access to training, fair pay, and a safe environment in which to work.
00:33The union said bank employees were being denied opportunities
00:36to attend paid training and upskilling programs,
00:39which it said were essential for career advancement and job security.
00:43It added that banks should address issues of bullying,
00:46discrimination and harassment in the workplace,
00:49and push for a culture of respect and dignity for all employees.
00:53NUBE said the picketing was well-received by the public,
00:56who were also unhappy with the salaries of CEOs.
01:00It said further action is being planned but did not give details,
01:03adding that the union will continue to stand strong,
01:06advocating for fair treatment and justice for all its members.
