00:00Hi, my name's Jack Marshall. I'm a digital reporter with the Lancashire Post newspaper
00:08and welcome to our latest video in our LP Eats review series. We're on a mission, as
00:14viewers will know, to find Preston's top burger. Now, so far, we've been to a few places in
00:19the city centre, which have been more kind of modern, sit-down, restaurant-y kind of
00:24vibes, a bit more upmarket, a bit more highbrow, the kind of places where you would actually
00:29sit in and you'd stay in the restaurant, you'd have that kind of thing, they're all,
00:32you know, they've got fancy designs and they're kind of like shabby chic or modern industrial
00:36in the designs, and the kind of place where it's a bit more upmarket, like we say. So
00:41we've tried a few of those, they've been lovely, they've been great, had some lovely burgers,
00:44but it wouldn't be a real burger review series if we didn't also try some places which are
00:50a little more rough and ready, and I mean that in the best way possible, a little more
00:53rough and ready, classic takeaways where you're going to get a proper dirty burger, the kind
00:57of place where you're going to get a side of cheesy chips as well. So with that in mind,
01:00we're off today to a place called The Burger Hut, which is just the other side of the city,
01:04so I'm going to hamble across there in the nice July weather and see what we can find.
01:09But yeah, really excited for this one, we've got a few recommendations from people when
01:13we put out the call to get people's tips and suggestions on places to try for the best
01:19burger in Preston, so really keen to try this one and see what it's like, like I say, a
01:24bit of a contrast to the places we've been so far, but well up for trying it. So yeah,
01:28join me as we cross the city, head on over to The Burger Hut and see what it's like. Cheers!
01:44Hi all, now my name is Jack Marshall and when I left here, I was just heading over to The
01:49Burger Hut to check out what was, I anticipated being one of those classic, rough and ready,
01:56proper dirty street burgers, that's really what I was looking for. Now, as you know,
01:59we've been to a few places which are like classic, not so much classic, but more like
02:04upmarket kind of places where the vibe is very clean cut and very modern and like very chic
02:10really, so I was looking for something which is going to get down and dirty, give you a bit of
02:13gristle and grease to go with the more kind of like fancy patty burgers we've had so far. So
02:19headed over to The Burger Hut. Now, first impressions, very cool place, very cool decor,
02:24very helpful people. It was a 5 out of 5 until the fact that they just didn't accept card,
02:28so that's a little, I'm going to mark them down a tiny bit on that front, so again 4.5 out of 5
02:34for the vibe in the place because they were really nice, really quick, it was all great,
02:38would have just been a bit more convenient if you could pay by card. Anyway, next thing,
02:42the meat itself. Now, I've got to say I was a little underwhelmed by this because it wasn't
02:46like your classic juicy beef burger, it wasn't that really kind of like meaty, you know, you
02:53bite into it, you get a succulence of it, it was almost like more Tex-Mex-y barbecue style thing,
03:00it just wasn't exactly on point of the colour palette that you're really going for when you
03:05order a beef burger, so I'm going to mark them a 2 out of 5 on that. It was nice, it just doesn't,
03:10it wasn't what you're looking for from a classic beef burger, so marking down a bit on that, but
03:15come to the moisture of the burger, it was good, it was very good, it had plenty of sauce on it,
03:21the salad was good, that was all nice. We'll come to this more in the extras, but it also came with
03:26some chicken on there as well, and the chicken, I was worried that was going to be quite dry,
03:29but that was nice and moist as well, so that contributed to it being quite a nice kind of
03:34moist burger overall, so I'm going to give them a 3 out of 5 on that. Extras now, we've already
03:39mentioned the fact that there was chicken on there, so we get high marks for that, there was also
03:43some like Doritos on there as well, which is designed to add a bit of a bit of a spice,
03:47bit of a zing to it, create something a bit different, so that was good, the only qualm I have
03:51is that because of the salad being quite fresh, which is a good thing, it did make Doritos a little
03:56bit moist and they got quite soft towards the end once I'd managed to cart it back to the office
04:00and dig in, so I feel a bit harsh marking down on that because I can't really control that, and if
04:05I'd eaten it fresh, it would have been crispy, really good, so I'm going to give them, I'm going to give
04:09them a 3.5 out of 5 for the extras, something which I do need to mention about the extras was the chips,
04:14the chips were outstanding, they were really good, plus it came with a couple of pots of sauce as
04:18well, so bang on that for them. Now finally, we're coming to the value, this burger, chips and a drink
04:23combo cost me £8.30, which I thought was pretty good because pretty hefty burger, plenty of chips,
04:28sauces included, drink, that's full meal, I was left feeling very satisfied, very filling, really
04:34good, perfect for if you're looking to grab a quick lunch, so I'm going to give them a 4 out of 5 on
04:38that front, yeah, 5 out of 5 would have been like crazy price if it was really, really good value,
04:43this was just like, yep, that seems about right, I need a good amount of food, so I'm going to give them
04:47a 4 out of 5 on that front, that gives them a total score of 17 out of 25, it's a really respectable
04:52score from the Burger Hub, really enjoyed going down there and trying out this burger, nice, like I
04:56say, to try something a bit different, kind of expand my horizons and try some places which are
05:00proper classic local takeaways, which people in Preston love, so really, really good fun to try
05:05that out, so yeah, thanks for watching, really hope you enjoyed this review, stay tuned for
05:10next week's review, where we're doing an absolute Preston classic, thanks for watching, cheers.
