With the second Alice Springs curfew ending without incident debate continues over what should happen next. One local Indigenous-led program is working hard to make a difference and says the region won't see real change until people are supported to stay on country.

00:00As the dust settles on another Alice Springs curfew, these young men are looking to the future.
00:13This is the All-Rounder program, an initiative led by Arinda, Aliara and Pradam brothers Damien and Warren Kunoth.
00:20Giving them power back, making them feel good, acknowledging what their talents are.
00:26The program works with young men in the community and youth detention centre, teaching them traditional stockman skills.
00:33Gives them that opportunity to do something, you know, other than hanging around in town or getting in trouble.
00:41It's nice, nice riding the horses, walking the horses, feeding them, let them drink water.
00:4919-year-old Lane has been caught up in crime in the past, but through the program, he's back on track.
00:56It's been really good for me, like I got a job, you know, instead of just doing no good things in town.
01:03Fighting and just drinking around and all that.
01:08Local Indigenous leaders are calling on governments to back long-term solutions like these, instead of more lockouts.
01:16The curfew, it takes, I don't know, two to three people to make that decision, where there's a majority of the whole community that I think should have a say about what we should do next.
01:25The government says some of the recent violence in Alice Springs has been sparked by family tensions over the death of a young man earlier this year,
01:34when the stolen car he was riding in crashed in the CBD.
01:38Local Indigenous leaders have condemned the violence, but say only strengthening remote Aboriginal communities will ensure lasting peace in the outback town.
01:48There's a lot of young people that's got a lot of talent, a lot of ability, but we're not triggering it.
