00:01It's been a wet, wet summer here in northwest Queensland, that's for certain, and here in
00:06Mount Isa, we've actually just hit a new rainfall record for the month of February. We've hit a
00:12total of 318.6 millimetres for the month of February. The last record was set in 1930,
00:19so it's almost a century-old record. As you can see behind me, a lot of the crossings in town
00:26do
00:26have water overflowing, but it hasn't been massive flooding rain, which has been appreciated
00:31throughout the town. The two main highways into Mount Isa through the east and the south have
00:36been periodically closed due to floodwaters over the roads. It has been affecting some supply of
00:42produce in town, but it is hoping that some of the roads will reopen over the next few days and
00:48we
00:49will be able to restock in retailers. In 600 kilometres to the north of me in the Gulf of
00:55Carpentaria, residents have been isolated for almost two months now, and a lot of this water
01:01that you see here behind me will flow up into the Gulf of Carpentaria and continue to isolate residents
01:07for another few weeks potentially. And about 600 kilometres to the south of me is Birdsville,
01:14which is expecting some more flooding over the next few days as well as some rainfall throughout
01:19the Northern Territory will start to flow down into the southern western parts of Queensland.
