00:00Mum-of-three Kasia Smith was reported missing on January the 5th from the Calder area of the city
00:05after concerns were raised by her family we had not heard from her since Saturday November the 4th
00:102023. On January the 7th police officers in Edinburgh appealed for help from the public
00:17to trace the 35 year old woman adding that she was known to frequent the Gorgie area of the city.
00:23The police search ramped up over the weekend of January the 21st and 22nd
00:28with officers carrying out searches near the Calder Grove and neighbouring wooded areas.
00:34Specialist officers were seen searching a car park in the Calder area where the 35 year old
00:39mother lived. On January 24th we reported that officers donned wet suits and life jackets before
00:46carrying out a search operation at the Union Canal close to Kasia's home. The flat was boarded up and
00:51police were no longer guarding the door. It was also revealed that Kasia had not been seen in
00:55person by anyone since October the 10th 2023. On March the 4th her distraught family spoke in
01:02front of the cameras at a police conference revealing how desperate they are for information.
01:07Kasia's 18 year old daughter Kayleigh Smith and her mum Nicola Neil made emotional pleas for help
01:12to find her. Kasia is around five foot tall with a slim build she has blue eyes and long blonde hair
01:19she also has tattoos one of which is visible on her right wrist and says forever. It is understood
01:26that Kasia often visits Gorgie, Broomhouse and the Westerhales areas. When asked to comment on
01:32the ongoing investigation Police Scotland told the Evening News on Monday July the 8th just over
01:38six months since Kasia Smith was reported missing that Kasia Smith is still a missing person
01:43inquiries are ongoing. Anyone with information about Kasia is asked to call Police Scotland on
01:49101 quoting incident number 3915 of January the 5th.
