00:00The Registrar of Societies has rejected Indian-based party Urimai's application for registration.
00:08P Ramasamy, chairman of Urimai's interim leadership committee, said the party's legal
00:13team is working on an appeal to Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail within the 30-day
00:18stipulated period.
00:20He said the decision was not surprising, blaming it on what he said was a vendetta by Prime
00:24Minister Anwar Ibrahim's government against his party.
00:28He also accused the ROS of timing its rejection of Urimai's application made on November 3
00:33last year to coincide with the Sungai Bakap by-election on July 6.
00:38He claimed that the rejection of their application reflects the government's anger toward Urimai's
00:43leaders for not supporting the Pakatan Harapan coalition in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election
00:48and the ongoing Sungai Bakap by-election.
00:50However, he said the party will not be intimidated by the actions of the Medani government.
00:57Last month, Ramasamy said his party will not support either PH or Perikatan Nasional
01:01in the Sungai Bakap by-election despite not fielding a candidate.
