00:00A political analyst has called on Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar to resign as Terengadu Muntri Besar
00:06to focus on his new role as Perikatan National chairman and strengthen the coalition ahead of the next general election.
00:14University of Malaya's Taufik Yaqub said,
00:16The PN chairmanship carries substantial responsibilities, especially with GE16 less than three years away,
00:22and state elections, such as Melaka and Johor, approaching, possibly concurrently, with GE16.
00:29He added that as PN chairman and a potential prime minister candidate in a government-in-waiting,
00:34Samsuri should focus on nationwide preparations in the current dynamic political landscape.
00:39However, University of Science Malaysia's Ahmad Fauzi Abdulhamid disagreed,
00:44saying the past vice president should remain Terengadu Muntri Besar to enhance his credentials through the state's success.
00:51Fauzi said improving Terengadu's economic performance would strengthen Samsuri's case as PN's poster boy for GE16.
00:58Samsuri was appointed PN chairman last weekend to fill the gap left by Brasadu President Muhyiddin Yassin on January 1st.
01:06Past Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Mun previously said that the PN chairman should not be automatically seen
01:12as the coalition's poster boy or prime minister candidate for GE16.
