Boston Basketball Partners LLC, the majority owner of the Boston Celtics NBA team, has put the team up for sale. The sale is expected to be completed by the end of 2024 or early 2025, with a second closing in 2028. As one of the most successful and popular NBA franchises, the Celtics could sell for a record price close to the $4 billion valuation the Phoenix Suns received in 2023. The Celtics just won their record 18th NBA championship in June 2024. Negotiations are ongoing for the NBA's next media rights deals.
