00:02The FDA's relaxed vape and nicotine pouch regulations could flood the market with hundreds
00:07of new products, according to Reuters. The FDA announced it will allow manufacturers to sell
00:14unauthorized vaping products without pre-marketing approval, provided their license applications
00:18meet certain standards. The Trump administration's vape policy change bypassed the typical public
00:24comment process and raised public health concerns, two former FDA tobacco chiefs said,
00:30and was announced days before FDA Commissioner Marty Macri resigned.
00:35Tobacco executives lobbied President Trump, arguing at a recent meeting that the FDA's
00:40previous policy enabled a vast illegal market of mostly Chinese vapes. According to an official
00:46briefed on the meeting, up to 200 products could immediately benefit from the new policy.
00:51Around 1,000 applications are already at the scientific review stage, according to officials.
