Rangers general manager Chris Young joined the GBag Nation to talk about the team's first sweep of the season over the Royals this weekend, Wyatt Langford and his hot bat, why Josh Smith deserves to be an All-Star this year, and more!
Transcript
00:00In the Gbag Nation, Wyatt Langford, he has been brilliant since coming off the IEL.
00:20He had the big grand slam for you.
00:22What have you seen from him as he's kind of turned the corner and really settled down?
00:26I've seen a great aptitude from Wyatt in terms of his ability to make adjustments.
00:33He obviously had a great spring training and then got off to a cold start here, but I think
00:38that should have been expected to some extent with how fast he's gone through the minor
00:41leagues and just adjusting to the quality of big league pitching.
00:44We're seeing it all across the league, offenses down.
00:47The pitching in today's game is so good, and to think that he was in college baseball last
00:52year and now he's seeing the best pitching in the world on a nightly basis, and you're
00:56starting to see him make adjustments and really feel confident at the plate.
01:00The performance this month has really reflected that, and it just shows what a high aptitude
01:06Wyatt has for making adjustments, for learning, how talented he is, and the hard work that
01:11he puts in it.
01:12I think that the hitting coaches deserve some recognition here as well for identifying a
01:18couple things in his swing that have put him in a better position to really handle major
01:21league pitching.
01:22Collectively, they've all done a great job, and we're seeing the results.
