00:03The multi-million pound regeneration of Claycross is underway with the official naming of a

00:08planned new town square and the demolition of a much-loved leisure centre to make way

00:12for a community hub.

00:14Work on the £24m Claycross Town Deal scheme features four main parts including a newly

00:19launched town centre location called Bailey Square which will be part of a redeveloped

00:24area supporting a day and night time economy for residents and businesses.

00:28Claycross Town Board Chairperson Lee Barnes said,

00:31I am extremely eager to unveil Bailey Square to the public. It will be a pace to host some

00:36amazing events, make some fantastic memories for those attending and will become a household

00:40name to visitors and residents of Claycross as a substantial leisure space at the heart

00:45of the town.

00:49An historic Derbyshire school closed due to budget issues could be converted into an impressive

00:53forever home after being put on the market for more than half a million pounds.

00:58The former Worksworth Infant School in Harrison Drive was closed by Derbyshire County Council

01:03last summer after more than 100 years but is now set for a new lease of life.

01:08Plans filed with Derbyshire Dales District Council would see the former school, which

01:11had just 31 pupils on its roll at the time of closure, converted into a home for a family.

01:17A document filed with the applications details that the former infant school remains owned

01:21by the Derby Diocesan Board of Education which had advertised it for sale in January with

01:26offers in excess of half a million pounds.

01:29The document details that a family's offer has been accepted by the board but is conditional

01:33on obtaining planner permission to convert the school into a home.

01:37The plans will be decided by the District Council in the next few months.
