00:00It's public service week and in recognition of all the work public
00:05servants do to make the lives of citizens run smoothly, the Ministry of
00:09Public Administration hosted an expo at the Hyatt Regency Hotel and awarded
00:14high performers in various sectors. The Minister of Public Administration
00:19Alison West opened the event. She toured booths, had one-on-ones with students and
00:25even tried her hand at trivia. What we try to do is encourage them to show that
00:33our digital transformation program is in full force so you will see a lot of
00:38ministries with digital platforms and applications and for example Public
00:44Admin, which I lead, has an application which shows you all the jobs that's
00:49available in the public service, the salaries that are available and so on.
00:52The Ministry has embarked on multiple projects like the construction of an
00:56administrative complex, building a government storage site which will cut
01:01down on rental sites in Port of Spain and they've been leading the charge with
01:06the remote work program. We are in the process of getting a report on so we
01:12should be able to come to the public within this calendar year to let you
01:16know whether remote work can work for the public service and if and when we
01:20rolling it out. Then there is their biggest project yet. The conversion of our HR
01:28management from a paper-based system to an electronic system which we are aiming
01:33to roll out next year as well. The award function featured the best of the best
01:3714 public officers nominated by their peers and it also featured a special
01:43award for the best online public service. This is but a subset of the many who
01:49work every day to make a difference. Many working long hours with limited
01:54resources whose dedication may not be recognized but is integral to our
02:00development. Our public service is the engine room of our nation. In winners
02:06row were Ayanna Lafleur of the Ministry of Sport and Community Development,
02:11Davon Wilson, Marva Rees-LaRoche of the Ministry of Rural Development,
02:17Kanisha Edwards, Keith Archer, the Ministry of Tourism Deidre Rahman, Jave
02:24Forrester, Janine Ratansingh, Kemba Moses-Henry, Kevin Showers, Patricia
02:30Gulston-Hudson and Petal Kennedy. And copying the best online public service
