00:00It was a scorcher. To tell us more about that is Josette Davinanan with our weather forecast.
00:07Thanks Alicia. Good evening Trinidad and Tobago. It's Friday and the weekend is finally here.
00:12I hope you were able to keep cool today because it was blazing hot out there. If you had your AC
00:18on today, don't be surprised when that TNTEC bill shows up looking a little extra spicy this month.
00:24Now, I hope you stayed hydrated and found some shade because that sun was not holding back.
00:29I mean not even the breeze bothered to show up for work today. Here in Trinidad we hit a scorching 33
00:35degrees Celsius while in Tobago it stood at 31. But don't worry, tonight's shaping up to be mostly
00:41fair. There is just a small chance of a quick isolated shower and by midnight we could see a
00:46little extra cloud cover. Temperatures will drop to 24 degrees Celsius in Trinidad and 26 in Tobago.
00:54Perfect weather to relax after a very long hot day. Now looking ahead into Saturday it's going
01:00to be a bit of a mixed bag. We're starting off with some partly cloudy skies, some breezy conditions
01:05but don't let that fool you. It's not going to stay quiet all day. Expect light to moderate showers
01:11and there is a chance that some of those showers could turn heavy and thundery. So if you're
01:16planning a hike or even a quick trip to the double stand, keep your umbrella handy. You might need it.
01:21Highs tomorrow will hit 32 degrees Celsius in Trinidad and 32 in Tobago. Now for my early risers
01:28who love catching that sunrise glow, you'll see it at 6.05 in Trinidad and 6.03 in Tobago.
01:34Just in time to get your weekend off to a very bright start. Now for those of us who prefer a
01:39little extra sleep, don't worry, I'm with you. The sunset will be at 5.40 in Trinidad and 5.37
01:46in Tobago. Now for all my fisher folk and beach goers, here's what's happening at sea.
01:51Seas are going to be moderate with waves between 1.5 to 2 meters in open waters and just below
01:57a gentler one meter in some sheltered areas. And speaking of waves, here's a look at our tide times.
02:02Now for Sunday, it's looking like an umbrella or Netflix kind of day. Expect mostly cloudy skies,
02:17occasional showers and even periods of rain. There's a 60% chance of heavier showers or
02:23maybe even a rumble of thunder. Highs will be at 31 degrees Celsius in Trinidad and 38 in Tobago.
02:29For Monday, the trend continues with variably cloudy skies, light to moderate showers and even
02:34a chance of heavier activity. Temperatures will be at a whopping 32 degrees Celsius in Trinidad
02:39and 31 in Tobago. So keep those umbrellas handy as you head into work week. Now before we wrap up,
02:46let's take a look at what's happening internationally. Over in Iceland, the volcano
02:50has erupted for the seventh time in under a year. Residents of a small fishing village called
02:55had to evacuate again and even the famous Blue Lagoon resort was shut down.
03:00It's been a challenging year for them, but we're hoping everyone stays safe as they navigate this
03:05fiery situation. Alright folks, that's your weather update and whether you're liming,
03:10relaxing or dodging a little rain, make the most of it and stay safe.
03:14Have a fantastic weekend Trinidad and Tobago.
