So we are here on the Cannons Marsh Amphitheatre on the iconic location of the Bristol Harbourside
00:09
and behind us they are putting up the stage for Bristol Sounds. So can you tell me who
00:14
are you and tell me a little bit about Bristol Sounds?
00:16
I'm Holly, I work for Bristol Sounds doing marketing. Bristol Sounds is our annual summer
00:23
series of music, a little Harbourside festival. We've got a great mix this year, it's the
00:30
first year that we've got four all-day events, so both weekends we've got all-day events.
00:36
First night we've got Skin Dread headlining, we've got Gentleman's Dub Club with The Skints,
00:40
we've got Busted, James Arthur, Placebo which sold out and then to end next weekend we've
00:47
got another all-day event with Annie Mac and then an all-day with The Breeders.
00:51
Can you just tell me, obviously we're in a very weird time in the world, we're kind
00:55
of coming out of Covid but very much in the cost of living crisis. Why is coming to an
01:00
event like Bristol Sounds so exciting for people in the city?
01:05
Well, it's really important to us to make events affordable. I think it's nine and a
01:09
half hours of music which is a great deal, you know, lots of big shows nowadays are much
01:15
more than that. And yeah, it's just a great way to start off the summer with something
01:21
that's easy and accessible, not having to go to a muddy field, we're right here in the
01:25
centre. I mean, we've been going for a long time, I think it's the ideal location for
01:32
these kinds of events. I mean, we're able to have different areas, we've got this just
01:39
behind us is the VIP area. It's just such a lovely sunny spot, it's perfect.
01:45
Yeah, Bristol Sounds is a really fun event. We try to make it as accessible for families
01:53
and also cost effective, affordable for people because we know that a lot of big events are
02:02
quite expensive and we really want people to enjoy their summer. And yeah, it's just
02:07
a great way to kick off your summer with some fun little shows. So this year, I'm
02:14
covering all of our poster front. So this morning, I've been picking up posters to pop
02:19
around the site, lots of printing and laminating yesterday. But I'm excited to get involved
02:24
and take some photos during the festival.
02:28
And why Bristol then as a location?
02:31
So we're as a company, we're based in Bristol. A lot of us, we used to have a London office,
02:37
a lot of people have moved to Bristol. We just love it as a city and are really happy
02:41
to be here.
02:42
And then tell me a little bit about what people can expect when they come to Bristol Sounds
02:46
this year.
02:48
Lots of great music, good times, hopefully lots of sun, it's looking like there'll be
02:53
lots of sun. It's just a real fun weekend.
